Cozy Hut

It was white frost outside, but we were toasty warm in this cozy hut. It was so warm we turned off the heating overnight.

The hut has been constructed with double-glazed windows and a layer of insulation in the walls and ceiling. This keeps the inside temperature even all year round.

Self-catering Kitchen

The kitchen had everything we needed to cook a hot meal. Plenty of microwave dishes, pots, pans, baking tins and casserole dishes—even a large rice cooker. The flour, rice, pasta, sauces, herbs and spices were handy too. We had pancakes for breakfast!

We supply tea and coffee, including loose tea leaves and ground coffee for those who prefer a pot of tea or expresso/plunger coffee.

6 Bunk Beds
Bunk beds in the Settlers Hut

We had a great night’s sleep in the bunk-style beds. Curled up in the cozy doona covers. After warming up with the electric blanket we didn’t need the extra covering blanket. So much better than other Backpacker’s accommodation we have stayed in.

The hut is certainly cozy—but we have added a privacy curtain between the bunk beds and the kitchen area… This provides guests with privacy for dressing.

Separate Bathroom

The shower rocks! Absolutely plenty of hot water. Plenty of room. There’s a walkway round to the bathroom, but even in the cold this wasn’t too bad. I believe the owners intend covering in the walkway.

We use instantaneous gas hot-water that delivers constant hot water for the shower and washing machine. Covering-in the walkway will also provide an area for hanging wet clothes and working on bicycles.

Reception Office

We could easily find Graham or Christne in the Office when we needed assistance. They were very helpful with information about the area. Graham showed us around the farm, too. We loved the alpacas! There was no TV reception in the hut, but we did’t miss it—there were some great DVDs to watch.

Guests can usually find us down in the office, but if not we aren’t far away—a quick phone call finds us.
